Goodbye 2011 and hello 2012

In my attempt to begin one of my New Year's resolutions, it is 12:07 am on Jan. 2nd and I can't seem to get to sleep. I am hoping that this post will set the tone for many more this year. I am simply writing on this blog for my posterity. I want them to see evidences not only of my love for them but also of my love for my Savior and my deep desire for them to find that same love in their lives. It is in the little things that we find evidences of his love for us. It is in the everyday "coincidences" that if we stop and listen with a grateful heart, we find him lovingly and gently leading us on in His tender care. Yet, it is also in the grandiose of His crowning moment as our Savior and Redeemer when He completed the Father's will and finished the atonement. He paid the price for our happiness and we but have to believe Him and follow in his footsteps back to Him to receive this great gift. Three months before my father's passing, he came to visit Jacob in the hospital. Jacob was just a few days old and was in the NICU for 2 weeks following his birth. My dad's health at the time was very poor, but he wanted to meet Jacob. He wasn't sure he would be able to stand the whole time, so we wheeled him into the NICU. He became overwhelmed by the situation after about 5 minutes. We wheeled him out and I sat with him for a moment in the waiting room. He was emotional at the time, but insistent that I listen to him as he bore a sweet testimony to me of his Savior. He then proceeded to tell me that his greatest desire for his children was that they each have a knowledge and a testimony of the Savior. I echo this sweet sentiment. My greatest desire in this life is to know that my children know to what source they can turn for peace, love, understanding and hope. It is my life's work that they might know to what source they can find the lasting happiness that only the Redeemer of mankind can offer...their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My Dad once passed on some sacred advice. "The object of our existence is love Brooke." May this blog communicate to those I care the most about, my family, evidences of His perfect love and mine that is always striving.

Extention

My friends and I were so "fortunate" enough as to attend a week of violin camp.

Maja, Jacob, My dad, and I hike Grandeur Peak. It was 3 1/2 miles up, and 3 1/2 miles down.

Jacob playing one of the many games at the "Redneck Reunion" A.K.A Burton Camp.

Zach B. and I hangn' out.

This story is kinda embarrassing. Jake and I were "dumpster diving" at our next door neighbor's house who are remodeling, and we were trying to find a "fulcrum" for this "tee-ter-tot-er" we were making for Jane. As I was jumping out, I jammed my to middle knuckles on the chair I used to get up. They look like sausages!

You go, girl!

Just a cool pic.

Eli's finally one. Hooray!

This cake was supposed to look like a bouncy ball, and it's supposed to say "Happy Birthday Eli!"

Well it's about time!

I guess it is time for me to enter the blogging world. I have resisted doing this, but my sweet Kaela now lives in Seoul Korea for 6 weeks and I promised her that I would start one so that she could see all that was going on at home. I admit that I am not clever or funny in my writing. I might occasionally come up with a good idea or a funny picture, but don't count on it. So look elsewhere if that is what you are after. Hopefully my kids will get a kick out of reading what I wrote about them someday...that is my only reason for doing this.

We just arrived back from Korea on Saturday and are still feeling the jetlag effects. What a trip! We had so much fun visiting Jed's parents and soaked up every minute of them and the amazing city of Seoul. While we were there we walked all over Olympic park, took the subway, ate some delicious Korean barbeque, saw the World Cup soccer stadium, spent the day at Lotte World, went on a beautiful hike, sealed our sweet Eli to us in the Seoul Korea temple, played many fun games with grandma and grandpa, met some great missionaries, went to the 63 building and got an amazing view of Seoul, hung out at the Children's museum and topped it off with an outing to Canmore where we ate a delicous shaved ice, ice cream, fruit dessert. The best part of all was that we got to do it with two of the greatest people out there...grandma Linda and grandpa Craig!

Since we have been home we have been trying to go to sleep at night, getting back to school (Jacob and Jane), doing laundry, trying to keep running (for my ragnar race in Cali this weekend) and enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. Our neighbors just started a remodel of their home on Wednesday and we got to watch them tear down their garage and part of their house with a a giant tractor. It was great entertainment for me and for the kids. We almost thought that we were watching the Sunday night home makeover show from our back yard! The kids then decided to climb all over the equiptment once the workers had called it a day. I think that every boy in the neighborhood was out climbing on the tractor. It was a cute little boy moment.

I'm off to take in the sunny skies of California, see my favorite sister, hang out with my brother and his darling family and hopefully run a relay race without dying!
